  • If you can apply then you're not qualified

    Catch 22 for blue badges The number of people with disabled parking permits or ‘blue badges’ has increased in recent years. Under the old system a GP was asked to verify whether the person could walk 100m. It is not easy to check in a small doctor’s surgery whether someone can walk 100m. The old system wasted doctors’ time and was inefficient. Under the new system Cheshire East Council is responsible for deciding who should get a blue badge. We support efforts to reduce the number of blue badges and to make the system less bureaucratic. Sadly it seems the new system could be worse than the old.   • Mountview petition

    Save Mountview Petition The petition to ‘SaveMountview’, containing a final total of 1730 signatures, was handed over to Cllr Janet Clowes at Westfields, Sandbach on 22nd April. There was press coverage in the Congleton Chronicle and the Sentinel. The consultation period is now closed. The responses to the consultation will now be considered by the council with a decision sometime after June....

  • Mountview Meeting

    Save Mountview Public Meeting New Life Church Congleton – April 2nd 2013 A lively public meeting, organised by the Save Mountview campaign and attended by over 80 local residents and five Cheshire East councillors, was held at the New Life Church in Congleton on Tuesday evening, 2nd April 2013. The meeting was chaired by former Congleton Mayor Ernie Clarke. At the meeting service users and their families expressed their admiration for the services provided by Mountview Community Care Centre, which is subject to a consultation by Cheshire East Council regarding its future and possible closure. A petition asking Cheshire East Council to keep Mountview open has now been signed by over 1,400 people and will be presented to the Council before...

    CONGLETON’S ONLY RESPITE CENTRE UNDER THREAT Mountview is a 35 bedroomed care home providing vital respite, re-ablement and day services for older people. At Mountview there is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, home cooked food and caring, well-trained staff who do their best to help service users to have an enjoyable stay. They are responsible for their wellbeing and personal care and offer dependable and discreet support 24 hours a day. Mountview is under threat of closure by Cheshire East Council. Although council leader, Michael Jones, said at the Council meeting on February 28th that the matter is still under review, staff at Mountview have been issued with 90 day notices.
