Response to new figures on the net supply of housing
Emma Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Housing Minister, responding to new figures on the net supply of housing published today, said:
“These figures show the scale of the Tories’ failure to build the homes our country needs. Under this Government there have been fewer additional homes each year than the level it inherited.
“David Cameron has presided over the lowest levels of house building since the 1920s and people across the country are priced out of home ownership. The Tories have no plan to tackle the housing crisis.
“Labour is clear that you can’t deal with the cost-of-living crisis without building more homes. Labour has a plan to get 200,000 homes built a year by 2020 and make home ownership a realistic aspiration for the next generation.
