PCT Moves from Middlewich

The Knutsford Guardian reports (25/7/12)

A MAJOR mid Cheshire employer will soon be shutting its doors as part of one of the biggest shake-ups in NHS history.

Universal House, the offices of Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) in Middlewich will be closing on Friday, August 31.

A huge shift is taking place among Cheshire’s health services as part of the Government’s plans to phase out PCTs by April 2013.

It will mean disruption for more than 300 people who work there but a spokesman for the PCT said there will be no compulsory redundancies.

This will see doctors playing a direct part in designing services for patients.New health teams called Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) are being formed to take the PCT’s place and existing roles.

From April 2013, the NHS Commissioning Board is also due to take on many of the current functions of PCTs based in Chester.

The public health team has relocated to Westfields, Sandbach
